Same-Day Crowns

CEREC technology lets the team plan and create many crowns in the office when a one-visit approach is suitable.

CEREC in the office

CEREC — One-visit dentistry

A crown made to restore a tooth.

A crown covers and protects a tooth when a filling alone may not provide the support it needs. Reuther Family Dental uses CEREC technology to design and make many crowns in the office.

Whether a same-day crown is right for you depends on the tooth and your overall treatment needs. Dr. Katie will explain the options before recommending a plan.

  1. Why a crown

When a tooth needs more coverage.

A crown may be considered when a tooth is weakened or needs more support than a smaller restoration can provide. The recommendation follows an exam and a discussion of what is happening with that tooth.

Dr. Katie will talk through the condition of the tooth, what a crown would address, and any alternatives that may be appropriate.

  2. The process

    Digital design and in-office creation.

For teeth that qualify, CEREC technology supports the design and creation of a crown at the practice. The team will explain each step, including the records needed to plan the restoration and how it will be checked before placement.

Many suitable cases can be completed in one visit. The number of visits and details of care depend on the tooth and the treatment plan.

    • Discuss the tooth and treatment options with Dr. Katie.
    • Plan a crown using in-office CEREC technology when appropriate.
    • Review how to care for the restored tooth and when to return.
  3. A personal plan

Not every tooth follows the same path.

Some teeth may need a different restoration or a different sequence of care. If a same-day crown is not the right fit, Dr. Katie will explain why and discuss the next option with you.

Questions patients often ask

Can every crown be completed in one visit?

No. Same-day treatment is available for suitable cases, but the right approach depends on the tooth and your treatment needs.

What does CEREC mean for my visit?

CEREC is the in-office technology used to design and create many crowns. The team will explain whether it fits your case and what to expect.

Will I need a crown?

Only an exam can determine whether a crown is appropriate. Dr. Katie will explain what she sees and review the options with you.
