Care connected on site

In-House Lab

An in-house dental lab connects chairside care with lab work for parts of the treatment process.

A resource for the team

Lab work is part of a coordinated care plan.

Trinity, Dental Assistant and In-House Lab Technician of Reuther Family Dental.

Reuther Family Dental has an in-house dental lab, and team member Trinity serves as an in-house lab technician. The lab connects some chairside care with lab work in the office.

What the lab can support depends on the type of treatment. The team will explain how it applies to your care rather than assuming every restoration or appliance is made on site.

  1. How it fits

Connected to the treatment happening in the office.

Dental lab work supports certain parts of restorative care. Having an in-house lab lets the practice coordinate that work with the clinical team when it is relevant to a patient's treatment.

Your dentist will explain which items or steps are part of your plan and whether outside lab work or another provider is involved.

  2. Technology

    Different tools serve different purposes.

The practice also offers CEREC same-day crowns for suitable cases. CEREC technology and other in-house lab work are not interchangeable; the team will explain which process applies to your restoration.

    • The treatment need determines which workflow is appropriate.
    • Not every restoration is completed in the same way or on the same schedule.
    • Ask the team how lab work fits into your specific treatment plan.
  3. What to ask

Know what to expect before your treatment begins.

If your treatment includes lab work, ask what is being created, whether additional visits are expected, and how the team will check the fit. The answers depend on the restoration and your individual plan.

Questions patients often ask

Does the in-house lab handle every restoration?

No. The appropriate workflow depends on the type of care. Your team can explain whether the in-house lab or another process is being used for your treatment.

Is the in-house lab the same as CEREC?

They are distinct parts of the practice's technology and lab workflow. The team can explain which one applies to your care.

Will an in-house lab change how many visits I need?

Visit timing depends on your treatment. Ask the team what to expect for your specific plan.
