Root Canals

Dr. Katie will explain your options and whether treatment at the practice or a specialist is the right fit.

Preserving a natural tooth

Understand the problem and your options.

Root canal treatment addresses the soft tissue inside a tooth when it is inflamed or infected. The goal is to clean and seal the inside of the tooth so it can be restored as part of your overall care.

Dr. Katie will talk you through the findings and explain whether treatment can be completed at the practice or whether a specialist is the better choice for your situation.

  1. Evaluation

Start by finding out what is causing the concern.

Tooth pain, sensitivity, or swelling can have different causes. An exam helps the team understand what is happening and whether root canal treatment may be appropriate.

Dr. Katie will explain what she finds, discuss the options, and answer questions before a treatment decision is made.

  2. Treatment

Care is planned around the tooth and your comfort.

Root canal therapy involves treating the tissue inside the tooth, then sealing and restoring the tooth as needed. The exact steps depend on the tooth and the condition being treated.

After treatment, a filling or crown may be recommended to restore the tooth. The team will explain the restoration plan and any follow-up care.

  3. Referral when it helps

The right provider is part of the treatment plan.

Dr. Katie enjoys general dentistry and will discuss whether your root canal can be treated at Reuther Family Dental. If she feels a specialist could treat it faster and more comfortably, she will refer you for treatment.
