Preventive care

Exams & Cleanings

A regular visit is a chance to understand your oral health, ask questions, and plan care together.

Start with a conversation

Care begins with understanding your needs.

A dental exam and cleaning give Dr. Katie and the hygiene team an opportunity to learn about your health, look for changes, and answer your questions. The visit is guided by your history, what the team observes, and what matters to you.

If you are new to the practice, your first visit includes a comprehensive exam so Dr. Katie can understand your overall oral health before discussing recommendations.

  1. Your exam

A clear picture of your oral health.

The team reviews your dental and medical history and examines your teeth, gums, and other areas of your mouth. If you have a concern—such as sensitivity, discomfort, or a change you have noticed—let the team know so it can be part of the conversation.

When additional records or images are appropriate, the team can explain why they are recommended and how they help guide care.

    • Review questions and changes since your last visit.
    • Discuss what the team sees and what it may mean.
    • Make a plan together before moving forward with treatment.
  2. Your cleaning

Professional cleaning and practical home-care tips.

A cleaning helps remove plaque and hardened buildup from areas that can be difficult to reach consistently at home. Your hygienist can also talk through brushing, flossing, and any areas that may need extra attention.

The goal is to leave with clear next steps—not a one-size-fits-all routine. Ask questions about tools or techniques that would work for you.

  3. Your schedule

A visit interval that fits your needs.

There is no single schedule that is right for every patient. The team will recommend a follow-up interval based on your oral health, history, and findings at the visit.
